| How it works:
Radial Shockwave uses a high pressure acoustic wave that spreads through the tissue to reach the impaired area. The shockwaves cause cell stimulation and growth factor release. Cells proliferate and differentiate and this results in tissue regeneration. This leads to growth of new vessels, improved blood supply and tissue repair. Tendons are repaired with growth factor and fibroblast proliferation and this leads to increased collagen synthesis and tendon regeneration. Fractures are healed by stimulating bone morphogenetic protein, leading to mesenchymal cell differentiation and osteogenesis (bone formation). Calcification is eliminated with the growth of new lymphatic vessels and these vessels reabsorb calcium deposits in the tissue. Pain relief: Thick nerve fibres block the pain in the spinal gate. Shockwave decreases substance P which is a mediator for pain transmission. Shockwave increases circulation, reduces local ischemia and disrupts the muscle stiffness-pain cycle. Shockwave reverses chronic inflammation by increasing the activity of mast cells.
